Amy Wood was born and raised in Arizona and moved to Boise, ID in 2019. She currently works doing media design through social media management while doing illustrative fine art commissions, specializing in colorful watercolor and acrylic paintings and woven tapestries. In her free time, she loves to spend time outside and in local cafes with friends, her spouse, and her shih tzu.
Academically, Amy earned her BFA in Illustration and Minor in User Experience Research at Boise State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. For her BFA Exhibition, Amy’s featured tapestry Introspection was built upon the fragility of our identities and how they can be formed and unraveled by internal and external factors alike. Her work White Gladis: The Matriarcal Killer Whale and Her War Table was selected to be shown in the 2024 Annual Student Juried Blue Exhibition at BSU's Blue Galleries in the Center for Visual Arts. In addition to fine art exhibitions, Amy was awarded a EURECA cord upon graduation for her undergraduate research conducted for St. Luke's Applied Research Division for her senior user experience research capstone and ethnography internship studying the social determinants of health in the Nampa, ID community.
Whether through fine arts, design, or user experience, Amy incorporates the human experience into her pieces - creating engaging, relatable visuals and through making social commentary on life experiences in her work.
At the end of the day, Amy is a girl looking forward to her next matcha latte ✨ and will be admiring the aesthetics of whatever space she’s enjoying one in.
